Job Role
The IT Application Unit plays a pivotal role within the Corporate Planning & Support Unit. It is part of the IT unit that works together with business units in crafting the digital transformation journey of IPOS International and to provide operational application support. Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director (SAD), you will be supported by outsourced vendors and/or developers and shall be responsible for the end-to-end system improvement lifecycle from discovery to implementation to support business units in achieving IPOS International corporate goals.
Job Responsibilities
Discovery of system improvements
- Understand business users’ needs and intentions (business requirements)
- Identify how to improve the system to best support users and their business requirements effectively and efficiently
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Model business processes and identify opportunities for system improvement
- Create and analyse high-level business cases to provide recommendations to business units
- Liaise with vendors to solicit solutions based on the identified business cases
- Evaluate vendors’ solutions to ensure that they meet the business cases
Implementation of system improvements
- Ensure that projects are executed within agreed parameters of cost, duration, and quality according to the provided project plan by SAD
- Ensure that the project schedule and activities based on appropriate project implementation methodology are followed
- Identify potential project risks and their implications to the organisation and recommend mitigating measures to ensure that the risks are properly addressed
- Act as the change agent for project transition, including the smooth and seamless coordination of critical milestones and ensuring that these milestones are met
- Communicate effectively with vendors technically to ensure that users’ business requirements are met, and users’ queries are effectively attended to
- Guide business users in providing requirements to vendor
- Ensure that the requirement specification is properly documented
- Perform verification and validation on solutions before releasing it to business users for User Acceptance Testing
- Provide support during User Acceptance Testing
- Ensure that training guides are duly documented and provided to business users
- Conduct user training for business users
Application Operational Management
- Identify, propose, and develop relevant SOPs
- Support SAD on the ICT strategy and participate in defining application standards and implementing the policies and procedures
- Proactively manage users’ expectations and interact with them to provide quality service and technical solutions to the issues or queries to maintain satisfaction
General Support
- Performs other duties as assigned by SAD or their representative
Job Requirement
- Qualifications preferably in Information Technology, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in previous roles as Business Analyst
- Possess at least a Degree in Information Technology or its equivalent
- Good understanding of IT Software Development Lifecycle and preferably in Microsoft platforms
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite of products (especially docx, excel and pptx)
- Work independently on a diverse range of tasks delegated by the SAD
- Ability to distil problems and solutions in words, and to have good verbal and writing skills to present solutions to management
