Participants can look forward to the sharing of insights and perspectives from a variety of leading practitioners and academics, on areas that include intellectual property, competition law, blockchain, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data protection.
This seminar series aims to provide participants with an overview of some of the latest IT law issues and developments. Every session focuses on a different topic and will be conducted by a variety of leading practitioners and academics in the relevant field, who will deliver presentations and participate in a Q&A discussion with opportunities for participants to pose questions.

Larissa is a senior manager in the AI Governance Team (Data Innovation & Protection Group) in IMDA. Her work covers formulation and implementation of policies relating to AI Governance and Ethics as well as cross-border data flows. She has represented Singapore at various international platforms discussing AI ethics and governance issues, such as the intergovernmental consultations on UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of AI. She is currently an expert involved in the OECD’s Working Party on AI Governance (WPAIGO). She is also an Advocate and Solicitor of the Singapore Bar.
Cheryl is a Director with the Corporate & Finance Department in Drew & Napier. Her key areas of practice are Telecommunications, Media & Technology, and Administrative & Public Law. Cheryl advises clients on the Payment Services Act 2019, covering different types of payment structures to the issuance of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). She also advises clients on legal issues arising from the use of artificial intelligence (“AI”), from compliance with Singapore’s data protection laws when using AI to process personal data, to intellectual property and liability issues arising from the implementation of a ChatGPT-like system in the workplace to answer questions and generate documents and code.
Before joining the firm in 2022, Cheryl was a State Counsel/Legislative Drafter in the Legislation Division of the Attorney-General’s Chambers (Singapore’s national law drafting office). For 8 years, Cheryl has advised on and drafted legislation across a wide variety of subjects, with a focus on transport (including autonomous vehicles), infrastructure, technology and civil procedure.
Jeth Lee is Microsoft Singapore’s Chief Legal Officer, and Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs for the Asia-Pacific. He provides overall counsel on legal, public policy and regulatory matters in the region, and is passionate about fostering a trusted and resilient digital ecosystem.
Jeth is responsible for driving strategic transactions, brokering public-private partnerships, and navigating the organisation through complex regulatory environments. He leads Microsoft’s efforts on a spectrum of critical issues, including artificial intelligence, privacy, cloud computing, sustainability and cybersecurity.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Jeth spent a decade in leadership and management roles at the Singapore Exchange, where he served as the group’s chief compliance officer and lead counsel. Earlier in his career, he practised securities law at Allen & Gledhill, a leading Singapore law firm.
Jeth read law at the National University of Singapore, where he was chief editor of the law review. He holds a master’s degree in corporate law from New York University, and is qualified as an advocate and solicitor.
Daryl Lim is the H. Laddie Montague Jr. Chair in Law at Penn State Dickinson Law and Co-Hire at the Institute of Computational and Data Sciences at Penn State University. He is also the Associate Dean for Research and Innovation and Founding Director of the Intellectual Property (IP) Law and Innovation Initiative.
Daryl Lim is an award-winning author, observer, and commentator on IP and competition policy trends and how they influence and are influenced by law, technology, economics, and politics. He helps stakeholders understand the world around them. He consults internationally on various IP and antitrust issues.
He is a founding member of the Global IP Alliance and its local chapters in Pennsylvania and Illinois. In addition, he serves as Co-Chair of the University Education Committee and on the Executive Committee of the US IP Alliance. In December 2022, the American Law Institute elected Professor Lim to its membership based on demonstrated excellence and outstanding professional achievement.
He recently signed a book deal with Oxford University Press for a new book titled Infringement in Intellectual Property Law. His publications feature in leading flagship and specialty law reviews. Thomson Reuters (West) selected two of his articles as the best IP articles of the year in 2018 and 2021. He has also contributed to practitioner-focused publications for the American Bar Association, Law360, IPWatchdog, IP Watch, and IP Magazine. In addition, legal publications, specialty blogs such as Patently-O, and mainstream media sources such as Forbes, Slate, The Daily Journal, RealClearPolicy, and USA Today featured his views on current legal developments. In addition, he serves as a peer reviewer for the Yale Law Journal, Journal of Empirical Legal Studies, Journal of Antitrust Enforcement (Oxford University Press), Cambridge University Press, John Wiley & Sons, Carolina Academic Press, and the International Review of Intellectual Property and Competition Law.
Mr Paul McClelland specialises in intellectual property law and commercial dispute resolution. Before joining IPOS International Pte Ltd, Paul was sole corporate counsel for a well-known Singaporean brand, where he was responsible for a broad range of commercial matters, including worldwide trademark registrations and oppositions, management of external counsel, contract review, and training.
He has experience working in private practice for both Singapore and Scottish law firms. His practice focused on intellectual property and commercial arbitration.
He also taught commercial law, intellectual property and real estate law at a Scottish university.
