IP Academy hosted close to 50 Chinese government officials from Hainan and Zhejiang. Over their two-week visit, the delegates showed great interest in IP/IA’s role in the global economy and learnt about the role of IA/IP in international trade and IA/IP management for government officials.
IP Academy visited the office of automotive giant Geely — one of the largest carmakers in China. Warmly welcomed by Geely’s Head of IP — Mr Dai Yang with tours of the Geely and Volvo offices and we even had the rare opportunity to test drive the latest Geely car.
IP Academy met Jessie Zheng, Alibaba’s Chief Risk Officer and Chief Platform Governance Officer, at the company’s Hangzhou headquarters. In addition to an office tour, there were also discussions on potential collaborations such as joint brand protection seminars — a key focus area for Alibaba.
IP Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Zhejiang University—one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in China to collaborate in joint research on IP systems in ASEAN, joint training for Executive MBA students and two-way learning journeys for enterprises.
