The IP Office of Singapore (IPOS) is partnering with Cambodia’s Ministry for Industry and Handicraft (MIH) to conduct search and examination for patent applications filed in Cambodia.
IPOS is assisting MIH to expedite the granting process of quality patents in Cambodia to help businesses and entrepreneurs gain quicker access to Cambodia’s market of 15 million people. At the same time, MIH is also setting up regulations for re-registration of Singapore patents in Cambodia. The partnership between Singapore and Cambodia dated back to January 2015 where Singapore and Cambodia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate on IP protection and develop the ASEAN IP ecosystem. Both IP offices unanimously drive to facilitate greater IP knowledge transfer and training, and the sharing of processes and forms, to help businesses tap into the larger ASEAN Economic Community.”
