As part of its commitment to fostering global intellectual property (IP) awareness and capacity building, IPOS International, through its education and training arm—the IP Academy—has developed and delivered a suite of targeted programmes for the Chinese market. These programmes aim to strengthen the understanding of international IP practices, enhance innovation management capabilities, and support enterprises and institutions in navigating global expansion.
These initiatives align with Singapore’s broader vision of fostering collaboration with China in innovation, intellectual property, and enterprise development. This collaboration is particularly focused on strategic hubs such as the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC).
Key Initiatives Conducted
Training Programmes at CSGKC and other China-Singapore Projects
IPOS International has partnered with stakeholders at the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC) to co-deliver specialised programmes targeting Chinese SMEs and innovation-driven enterprises in the Greater Bay Area. These programmes focus on capabilities such as building an IP portfolio aligned with international business strategies. Participants learn about IP filing routes, freedom-to-operate analysis, enforcement strategies, and the role of IP in overseas market entry.

Besides CSGKC, IPOS International has also collaborated closely with stakeholders in other China-Singapore projects, including Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) and the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City. Programmes developed address topics such as international R&D collaboration, IP strategy for overseas expansion, and governance frameworks for managing intangible assets.
Customised Overseas Programmes and Executive Learning Journeys
IPOS International regularly hosts multiple delegations from China—including participants from government agencies, universities, research institutes, and innovation hubs—for tailored learning journeys in Singapore. These programmes provide immersive experiences covering Singapore’s IP ecosystem, strategies for intangible asset management, and best practices in commercialisation and technology transfer. Participants engage with industry leaders, visit key innovation institutions, and learn from real-world case studies of Singapore’s innovation-driven enterprises.
Delegations have included enterprises and government officials from Guangdong, as well as final-year students from Peking University.
Co-organisation of Forums and Conferences
Beyond formal training programmes, IPOS International has collaborated with various organisations to co-host forums and conferences on specialised themes during flagship events, such as IP Week @ SG. These events provide platforms for dialogue between Singaporean and Chinese policymakers, practitioners, and business leaders, promoting cross-border collaboration and thought leadership in the evolving IP landscape.
Experts from the Academy have been invited to speak at prominent IP conferences and forums held in China, such as the China Intellectual Property Annual Conference (CIPAC), sharing insights on topics including intangible asset management, IP valuation, and innovation ecosystems. These engagements have strengthened ties with Chinese IP institutions and extended IPOS International’s thought leadership in the region.

Through its multi-pronged approach—including customised programmes, executive learning visits, and participation in regional forums—IPOS International and the IP Academy have played a pivotal role in fostering IP capacity building and knowledge exchange between Singapore and China. The initiatives undertaken at the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City exemplify a model of international cooperation that supports enterprise growth, innovation, and the development of a robust IP ecosystem in the region.
